BEER MARQUE
Offer Every Customer an Excellent Beer Experience
Who can apply: Any outlet can apply as long as they have a range of beers containing at least 5 of the following: Premium lager, standard lager, craft keg, stout, cask ale, cider. If you are unsure whether your range is suitable please call us on 01206 890757 and we can help with any query.
What does it cost?: £240.00 + VAT to apply and £205.00 + VAT to renew the membership each year (based on 2024 fee schedule).
What do we test: Up to 6 different style draught products on each visit. Each drink is tested for temperature, appearance, aroma and taste. In addition to this we check glass cleanliness, head size, head retention, overspill, correct branded (or non-branded glass), hand not touching the rim, logo facing the customer. Once a year we also carry out a ‘Beer & Cellar Hygiene Audit’ visit (previously known as ‘Scores on the Cellar Doors’).
How do you pass?: Each section of the audit must pass in order to gain the Beer Marque award.
Each drink must acheive at least 16/20 for both the quality of the drink in glass and the serve. Plus pubs must acheive a 4* or 5* rating in the Beer & Cellar Hygiene audit.
How often do we visit: We visit twice per year plus 10% of pubs receive a surprise visit each year and we also follow up complaints from consumers if beer quality isn’t up to scratch.
Consumer recognition: You will be able to display your plaque and certficate of excellence for your customers to see. Your pub will also have it’s own listing on the CaskFinder app, which is used 60,000 times per month to find great pubs.
What do I get when I become accredited?: External enamel plaque, framed certificate, drip mats, bar runners, posters and a listing on the CaskFinder App.
CASK MARQUE
The Sign of a Great Pint
Who can apply: Any outlet can apply as long as they have at least one cask ale on sale at all times
What does it cost?: £210.00+ VAT in year 1 and £185.00+ VAT to renew the membership each year (based on 2024 fee schedule).
What do we test: Up to a maximum of 6 cask ales on each visit. Each beer is tested for temperature, appearance, aroma and taste. This also includes an annual ‘Beer & Cellar Hygiene Audit’ visit.
How do you pass?: All beers tested must score at least 16/20 marks and on the Beer & Cellar Hygiene Audit you must gain a 4 star rating or above.
How often do we visit: We visit twice per year. 10% of pubs receive a surprise visit each year and we also follow up complaints from consumers if beer quality isn’t up to scratch.
Consumer recognition: 77% of cask drinkers recognise the Cask Marque plaque
What do I get when I become accredited?: External enamel plaque, framed certificate, pump clip stickers, drip mats, bar runners, educational charters, appear on website and CaskFinder app. Free point of sale
